BPC-157 is a synthetic pentadecapeptide (15 amino acids) derived from a protective protein found in human gastric juice. As a stable gastric pentadecapeptide, it has become one of the most widely studied compounds in tissue-repair and regenerative research.
Investigators study BPC-157 for its consistent effects on angiogenesis, tendon-to-bone healing, muscle and ligament repair, and gastrointestinal mucosal protection across a range of in-vitro and pre-clinical models. Mechanistically, research links BPC-157 to upregulation of the VEGFR2 signalling pathway and nitric-oxide system, promoting new blood-vessel formation and accelerating the recruitment of reparative cells to injury sites.
It also appears to stabilise growth-factor activity and modulate inflammatory mediators, which is why it is frequently paired with TB-500 in soft-tissue recovery research.
